Thanksgiving 2007

A (mostly) photo journal:

The day began with pilgrim and turkey scones for breakfast (shaped that is, not flavored. Blech!) Actually, my day began at 5AM when I put the turkey breast in the brine which did it's job beautifully even though my meat thermometer attempted to thwart the salty solution's efforts.
I have forgotten whose blog was the inspiration for the activity below that kept the kiddos entertained while the finishing touches were being applied to the meal. Thank you, whoever you are!
UPDATE: Karen E's inspirational Thanksgiving Tree can be found here. Thanks Suzanne!

When we have a family over for a casual dinner, we usually let the children have the run of the dining area just off the kitchen and let the adults sit at the table in the "formal dining room" whose daily designation is "schoolroom". Well, my thanks goes to that saintly spirit or angelic creature who whispered in my heart the desire to put both tables together in front of the big window that looks out on our backyard, other wise we might have missed out on the biggest surprise of the day.

Please, Sir, I want some more.
(Snow, that is, he could care less about the turkey.)

  4. Looks like you sat down to eat at about the same time my sister and her friends did... they also left their dinner to run out into the snow. Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures.
