08/08/08

Popping in to say "hello" and that things are getting off to a slower start than I wanted due to some illness, but they should be ramping up here quite nicely next week. Also wanted to say that we are heading off to Mass to pray for the persecuted people in China and for everyone attending the Olympic Games. We are big Olympic Junkies! It started the year The Professor was born with lots of late night nursing and no cable TV. Hockey can be very interesting... when you are a walking zombie at 3 AM. (Sorry Nutmeg!)

After Mass, the kids will be treated to donuts and cinnamon twists (they kind of look like 8's) and then Chinese food for dinner with fortune cookies for dessert. Have a lovely weekend! Let me hear you chant U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A. Bye!

  1. We like the Olympics too.

PS if you have any tips regarding stiff towels/laundry issues, could you pop over to my blog and give me some advice? Thanks

  2. U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A. !!!!

How China got selected to host is beyond me... probably a tale of greed, graft, and bribery. I've really enjoyed their poison toothpaste, lead toys, and radioactive granite countertops, and I'm sure our athletes will enjoy that fine, one-child policy hospitality also. You get the feeling that behind every Potemkin facade is a gulag, and that no one is telling the truth about anything.

Oh, well. Let's invalidate their efforts and win each and every gold medal in the name of freedom.

    U.S.A.!

P.S. I love the opening ceremonies because they can be so darn crazy. Remember the one in Lillehammer, where they popped out of a giant egg? Only Finns with seasonal affective disorder can think that sort of thing up.

  3. And thus begins DH's rant of how the US tv channels only show US olympians... imagine that, eh?

And don't get him started on the hockey coverage...
(thank goodness it's the summer olympics!)

    :)

I have to admit... I am a medal counting nut! I don't care if it is a gold in underwater basket weaving, it still counts!

  6. ooh! I forgot about the Olympics (don't watch much tv around here.) Maybe we'll get some Chinese take out and plug in the set! I always like the opening ceremonies, too. I bet China will come up with something totally creepy. I hope it's not a big paper dragon display, though. That is so overdone!
