Dragon Cake ~ Putting it together

For the visual people...

Here are all of the cut cake pieces put together.

This is with the Ding Dongs added to make the thighs and feet. Now, please know, this is the only time that you will find Ding Dongs in my house. They are not my idea of good cake or even a tasty snack, but the kids are kind of intrigued by them and so we keep using them, once a year, and then, no more!

Here is a picture of the dragon frosted with the first layer of frosting. This is the layer that seals the crumbs in. It isn't going to look pretty! Pop it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes and then add your second layer which should cover all the crumblies trapped in the first layer.

Next post... the finished product!

  1. It is looking great! LOVE the color! Ours started our orange put look way too "peachy/pink" and so ended up a slightly lighter shade of purple than yours.

I am still in the process of decorating ours, but I RAN OUT OF FROSTING!! I thought I had plenty since I picked up an extra can last night... I was able to cover *most* of the dragon, but it looks like the thighs and feet are going to be remaining brown. Oh well.

Can't wait to see your finished cake!

  3. Charlotte, your dragon looks so yummy. I have an incrushable desire for baked goods lately. After an exhausting morning at the portrait studio trying to get 3 month baby pictures take, I don't think I ahve it in me to make a cake. maybe i'll get it togetehr this afternoon. Jessica, my posts look the same too.
