Seeing everyone else's beautiful sinks inspired me to make mine beautiful too. I don't have a before picture to show you, but one of the things I hate about my kitchen sink area is the warped wood on the bottom of the bay window. I have painted this area many times, but the wood underneath is so warped that chunks of paint sometime come off. Other patches are rough, not smooth under the many coats of paint. I'm pretty sure it's water damage from a previous owner, but I have no way to fix it right now. Ideally, I would love to replace it when we finally replace the countertops, but that project is just not feasible at this moment. In the meantime, I used some shelf liner that my mom gave me to hide it. I think it did the trick!
I am going to hunt for a pretty soap dispenser like Auntie Leila recommends. I need one that isn't breakable because of our porcelain sink. When thinking of things pretty and functional, I decided to set out my favorite matroyshka measuring cups instead of hiding them in the measuring cup basket. These actually aren't that great as measuring cups because they don't have handles so I inevitably end up with flour or sugar all over my hand, but they are super cute and cheerful and are there in a pinch if I need them.
The blue bottle on the end is a color that just makes me smile and the smaller vase is from the studio of one of the dads in our homeschooling group. I don't know that he made it himself or if one of his amazingly talented friends did, but I like knowing it's connection.
Good night and sweet dreams of shiny sinks!
