The Very First Virtual Baby Shower!

Did you see what Jessica created? She is amazing! I feel a little self-conscious mentioning it since it is a virtual baby shower for me, but when someone you love and admire creates something so unique and truly amazing as this, you just have to share it!

When she first mentioned the phrase "Virtual Baby Shower" I had no idea what she meant imagining something using Skype and lots of laptops. But no... she has put together something uniquely inspired with games and prizes and baking and decorations! I am sure this idea is the first of it's kind and likely will be Googled and replicated many times from here on out. You have to go see what she has done, if you haven't already, and enter to win some of the wonderful gifts she and others are offering.  There is a cupcake decorating contest which my girls will get to judge (they are thrilled!), a baby stats contest (go make a guess!) and a Name That Baby Blogger contest. In honor of that specific competition, I offer this picture of myself and Cupcake. It was taken by The Professor and I think he did a great job so even though the subject of the picture (me) is not one I like to post (and I think I'm probably the only person in the world who could look grumpy in a profile shot) I'm posting it anyway:

And to the contributors of the awesome prizes (you have to go check them out!) and the lovely Catholic Cuisine contributors, my heart is so incredibly full with astonishment and amazement and thankfulness at your generosity of time and talent! I am continually inspired at the kindness the people of the internet have to offer. I really hope everyone who decides to "come to the shower" is inspired to have fun and be creative just as Jessica has always inspired me! Everyone is welcome and I can't wait to see you there!

  1. You look beautiful in that profile shot! Not "gumpy"---I don't even know what that means, but it doesn't sound good.

  4. what a great picture. one to cherish. you should frame it in B&W or get a silhouette made form it for cupcake's nursery.

  5. Jamie,
I think Jessica replaced one of mine with one of the other Catholic Cuisine contributors who was able to get a picture to her at the last minute.

    Robina,
    That's a great idea!

  6. What a beautiful maternity photo! You're lovely, Charlotte.

I wish I had taken a photo for every one of my pregnancies. It's a treasured memory to both the mother and the child in years to come. I love the few photos I have of my own mother pregnant with me.

  7. Oh!!! You look so beautiful!! And I just love Robina's suggestion of either framing this picture in B&W or having a silhouette made for the nursery!!! That would be adorable!

You are always so sweet, and I am so very happy that you like your baby shower!

  8. I think you are simply lovely, enough of the no picture thing! That photo is lovely... but I still can't see your face.
I also agree that you should totally frame that and put it in the nursery. I am so happy for you guys and I can't wait to see your new addition! God bless!

  9. I am SO happy you posted this lovely photo. Plus people can actually see you over here instead of doing a search at *my* blog. ;)

Love you so much. Say a prayer that I'm able to fit in a batch of cupcakes alongside the baseball tournaments, soccer games, and ballet recitals.

    (Phew!)

(I say to my husband, Whatever will we DO with ourselves in August when the calendar clears up?)

    (We'll finally BREATHE, that's what. )

  10. Miss Margaret,
In the Cake Mix Doctor's Cupcake book, there is a section on Muffins which she subtitles... Breakfast Cupcakes! So if you don't get around to baking any cupcakes, you can decorate a muffin and call it a cupcake! The Cake Mix Doctor would approve.
