A Happy Accident

Yesterday was the feast of St. Hubert.
Hugh for short.
He was a hunter.
For dinner, I made an excellent stew with a fabulous recipe Margaret shared. (God bless Cathie B.! And God bless Margaret!) I had planned on making it on Tuesday but not enough time to allow for proper thawing meant a quick shuffle of the menu plans.

Did I mention I made elk stew, not beef, with the new supply of elk meat in my freezer.
My dad brought it up at the baptism.

He's a hunter.

God, please bless my dad. Good St. Hugh, pray for him!

  1. Oh, I've got to get that recipe! Paul is going to assist his brother at an elk hunt in New Mexico in December. If Mark gets an elk, we get some of the meat.:) I'll be knitting a blaze orange wool hat for little contribution to the hunt. I'm up to my eyeballs in camo emails right now...desert camo is different from northwoods camo...who'd a thunk?;) Anyway, your stew looks great!

  2. I may have to keep that recipe in mind. When my dad gets an elk, my mom is always searching for new ways to use the meat. There are only so many times you can make spaghetti with elk meat sauce in a winter!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and yourself!
