Birthday Evening

I have had a wonderful day today and how could I not with sweet birthday wishes like this one? I posted on Facebook that I love sharing a birthday with St. John the Baptist and I really mean it. The readings at Mass this morning were so lovely. The Cistercian who gave the homily was very inspiring. Isn't it delightful to begin a birthday with Holy Mass?

The children made me some cards. Sunshine gave me a pair of socks she knitted with some of the yarn she received for her birthday. I love them! These are the first pair she's made completely on her own.
Husband put a new hard drive in my laptop (which is what has delayed my posting today.) Since I am still eating dairy free because of Cupcake's funny tummy, I made a "grasshopper cake". Really it was a dairy free cake with canned frosting (it has no dairy) and mint chips.

After blowing out the candles, I'm going to hunker down with Little Dorrit and call it a wonderful day.

    1. Not GF, just DF. Hubby ate some ice cream and skipped the cake.

  8. Happy, happy, happy birthday Charlotte! Hope it was amazing! I have been thinking I may need to go dairy free too for awhile. Just to figure out what is going on with some of the bellies in my house. But the idea of no cheese? "Shudder"

    1. I am the only one eating DF. I can't imagine a whole family eating DF. "Shudder" indeed! My husband has always had a "funny tummy" and he's recently started eating gluten free and has seen remarkable improvement!

    1. Happy Birthday, Ms. Charlotte! I hope your day was lovely - I'm sure it was since you had the best (Cup)cake of all. ;) But that grasshopper cake looks delicious too - as do all your cakes!

P.S. I <3 Matthew MacFadyen too. :) Little Dorrit was almost unbearably depressing at times, but Mr. Clennam always made up for it!
