{p,h,f,r} St. Nicholas edition

{pretty}
Pretty little girl in a bright red coat! It's supposed to finally get cold here next week!

What's that you ask?
The floor?

I don't want to talk about it.

{happy}
Happy children who got a visit from St. Nicholas!

{funny}
Check out the size variation of those slippers!
Someone insisted on Cupcake leaving a letter for St. Nick too!

OK, fine! The floor. Well, before Thanksgiving, we noticed some water next to the washing machine in the laundry room. It appeared to be coming up from the flooring which was a press and stick tile on top of an old sheet vinyl. We watched for a washer leak. Nothing happened. Head scratching ensued. Then, on Thanksgiving, we noticed water around the dishwasher. Turned out it was the leaky culprit and had been leaking water underneath both layers for a while. Ewwwwww! So, all of the flooring came out... all the way down the hallway into the linen closet. No, there wasn't mold but it did smell a little musty. It was supposed to be replaced yesterday. We took the day off school and made all the arrangements to be sequestered in the front living room.
Nobody showed up.
The vinyl didn't make it in and nobody bothered to call us and say that the install would need to be rescheduled. Grrrrr argh! Dingy dangy doggone heck to phooey!

Deep breath... (whispering) contentment.
Really, in the grand scheme of things, it's a minor inconvenience.

  2. -8 here...missing the heat of TX. So happy that there was not any mold and frustrated for you all about taking time from school etc to have no one show up. Hope St. Nicholas' Day gets a lot better!

  5. Just now catching up with some blog posts. So sorry about your floor! A similar thing happened to us earlier this year. The dishwasher was leaking under the cabinets and under the wood flooring. Ugh. I'll never have wood flooring in the kitchen again. I hope they're able to get out to you soon to install the new flooring.

    I'm so glad those slippers worked out. They were a bit big, weren't they? ;) I love the mini St. Nick. Too cute!

  6. Catching up here. Oh dang on the floor! For once I think I would thank God for no basements down here...and a finished one on top of that. Please take photos of the finished product and post! (Unless you posted that somewhere else and I missed it :)

    1. No update yet. It's supposed to be installed tomorrow. I say "supposed to". I'm fully expecting them to show up with the wrong stuff and have to go back to square one.
