Hitty: Her First Hundred Years (because it was Tomie's favorite book as a child) and say a prayer for this 73 year old man who was blessed by God with a talent that he has shared with the world in the form of many colorful and beautiful representations of stories from our Catholic faith. the Gospel yesterday. She told me later that
all three parables (we got the long version)
were in Tomie's book.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! It was on my calendar, too, and you know what? I completely forgot! I had, on rather short notice, worked ALL of Friday night--12 hours!--and unfortunately, my son was sick much of that same night, too. So needless to say, we were all pretty much zombies on Saturday! NOTHING got done that I had planned (in addition to missing out on Tomie's birthday celebration, which I was REALLY looking forward to, we also missed an annual native plant sale. Rats!)
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for reminding me that it's not too late to celebrate! We just love Tomie dePaola so much. We've been reading every morning from his book of bible stories, and then my son likes to type up a narration of the day's story, print it out, and illustrate it on the reverse side. He realized that by doing so, he could create his very own bible. How sweet is that?! :)
