Prayers for Haiti

If you are just staring at the screen, watching the suffering and feeling helpless, ask yourself what you can do today to help make it better. Can you contribute to the relief efforts? Can you pray for the devastated? Can you offer a small sacrifice for those who are risking everything to rush to their assistance?

We are off to Mass to do what we can do. Have a wonderful Friday!

  1. Yes. This is what we've been doing. Every pryer we utter, they has been added -- even mealtime prayers. Especially mealtime prayers. Deciding now which agency we trust most to donate materially. It's all so heartbreaking.

  2. Um, make that "prayer" and "have"... (Haven't had my coffee yet.)

  3. Lisa,
I hear you about knowing who to trust. I must admit that my skeptical nature does me in sometimes in this regard. I did find this website, Charity Navigator, to be of some help. It evaluates different charities based on what percentage of the money goes to the program vs. what goes to administrative costs and even shows you what kind of salary the CEO takes home which I think is very telling. CFCA is a Catholic organization with over 90% going to the people in the program and whose CEO is paid a reasonable wage comparatively.
