St. Charles Borromeo Coloring Page

When I was gathering pictures for our Church Triumphant, Expectant and Militant poster, the children asked several times if there was a St. Charlotte. I was named for my aunt and godmother who passed away shortly after I was born. Having never found an official St. Charlotte, I have always claimed St. Charles Borromeo as my name saint, Charlotte being the French feminine form of Charles.

Today is the feast day of St. Charles, so that makes it my name day. I decided to celebrate by making a coloring page in honor of this holy bishop and wanted to share it with you. You can read more about him over at Catholic Culture. FYI, if your kids ask, like mine did, the rope around his neck was an act of penitence, not a method of martyrdom.

  5. One of my names is also a derivative of Charles, and I also claim Charles Borromeo as a patron.

  7. Actually there is a BLESSED Charlotte, she was a carmelite nun in the convent of Compiegne, France. She was beheaded during the French Revolution for being a Nun. She was the oldest of the sisters and they are famous for going to the guillotine singing the Te Deum. Their feast day is on July 17th.

My sister's name is Charlotte as well and since we are French we know a few of those "secret" blesseds;) Because they came from there!

Hope this help! And happy feast day anyway!
    God bless,

  8. Mattie,
I had heard of a french nun named Charlotte who might be either canonized or on her way to being canonized but the more I looked into it, it looked like it was just rumor. I could never find any evidence or proof. If you have any, I would love to see it!

  9. Our parish is St. Charles Borromeo Parish. It's a great place and today was a special day at our church. Two cool things we got to do on our trip: snap a photo of the kids at a wall fresco of St. Charles' canonization in the Vatican Museums and visit the cathedral in Milan where he was a bishop. Those 2 things were very special to us.:)

ANd sorry, it was the Veni Creator, not the Te Deum that they were singing, oops.

The first link has a picture of a painting of her.
    Enjoy!
