Feast of the Epiphany

We all enjoyed this Galette des Rois, a French almond filled pastry, with a feve inside and a traditional gold paper crown. You can read more about it over at Catholic Cuisine. We opted to let the person who found the favor crown the Child King.

After processing through the house blessing, our three youngest, dressed as the three kings, presented the gifts to the Christ Child.

Blessings to you all at the close of this joyful season!
Merry Christmas, friends!

Psssst... Anyone else delighted that the Christmas season is over? I love this liturgical season, really I do, but I also love it when life (and my house) gets back to normal.

  4. SO beautiful, Charlotte! The dessert looks wonderful and I love how you gave the crown to the child Jesus. And those candles! Love them! Are those more of your silhouettes?

What a beautiful end to the Christmas season! ...and yes, I am ready to be done and go back to our regular routines.

  5. Wow! Beautiful, Charlotte! Yes, are those your silhouettes? You should really consider making and selling them...I would love some for my house.

  6. Those are not mine, but thank you for the compliments! They were gifts sold by Dayspring, but I can't find them right now so I am assuming they are out of stock. What is neat about them is that they are metal bands that encircle the glass, so when Christmas is over you can simply remove the silhouette band and have three lovely candles holders. Love those double duty decorations!

  8. After making the galette I had about 1 cup of almond paste leftover. I could have frozen it, but I decided to find a recipe that uses almond paste. I discovered Dutch Banket - a shortbread type pastry with an almond filling. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Banket/Detail.aspx
