Day 6 :: Happy St. David's Day!

I've been posting some recipes this week over at Catholic Cuisine to celebrate St. David's Day today. My husband's Welsh ancestry has sparked a little devotion in our family to this sometimes forgotten saint. (St. Patrick gets all the press, you know! :)
First up was our simple version of a Daffodil Cake.

And finally these delicious Welsh Cakes! I tested them earlier in the week and my children begged me to make some more today. They taste like a scone and a biscuit got married and had delicious little babies!

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant!

Happy St. David's Day!

  2. I have a bit of Welsh in me from my father's side. I'll have to try to try the Welsh Cakes (or suggest it to my baking-obsessed daughter). My husband, who doesn't have a smidgen of Irish in him, gets peeved that St. Patrick gets all the attention. What about St. Boniface? There are a lot of Germans who settled this country after all. He thinks it boils down to the Irish being better salesmen than the Germans.

  3. Man, that looks so good! I have been wanting to start celebrating Saint David, it is a huge family name over here, and I have Welsh on my side.
