My sympathies...

...to the people of the North who are suffering terribly from this pressure cooker sitting on top of us right now. As I was saying to Sean the other night, down here, we have the means to deal with the heat, it's just a matter of whether or not we have the endurance. Your heat waves are more like a sprint but one that you don't really get to train for. I hope it's over soon!
My suggestion... freezee pops! Lots of freezee pops!

  1. You're sweet.:) The kids have eaten a lifetime supply of freeze pops that we found at Costco! Thank God this Mommy is from TX. The AC and I are longtime friends.;)

  2. In some ways this is worse for me than a snow storm. I think it is the endurance factor you mention! The AC in my car broke so I'm not going anywhere...lol. Three cheers for climate control!!

    Thanks for your sympathies. :)

  3. That's so crazy! I keep hearing about the heat, and we just haven't been having any of it?! It is unusually cool here and my children have been wearing their fall/winter clothes (long sleeves) to VBS all week..

  4. So long as I have AC going I can handle the heat. I've actually been going outside to warm up, but after a few minutes it's time to go back inside. I don't think it's the heat that's so bad, but rather the humidity. The air is so thick up here that you feel like you could cut it. I hung some damp clothes outside to dry yesterday and they were wetter when I brought them in than when I initially brought them out.

I'm thrilled that our pool water is a nice refreshing 90. So long as my plants don't die, and the AC keeps working it can stay up here in NJ for a little longer. I'll take this over snow any day.

  5. We've been having lots of rain lately, so our weather has been unusually humid. We live in a "high desert" area here in western Colorado so we are normally very dry, though we are surrounded by mountains.
I can take the heat (it's not that uncommon for us in the summertime), but it is the humidity that drives me crazy. I know I could never live in the south or New England for this reason.

  6. It's absolutely unbearable here in Virginia. You are such a sweetheart! :-) I hope you're staying cool.

  7. My area has the highest heat index on your map! It's really rough, and we have planned quite a few outside activities this week.

  8. Awww, thank you. It's been unbearable in NH this week. It was 98 in the shade at 4pm yesterday afternoon. Heat index in the 100s. Humidity like pea soup. Unfortunately, this was the week my 12 year old son went to soccer camp. He took 4 showers the first day! No AC in the dorms only fans. The staff was good and alert to the dangers. He was a trooper and enjoyed it anyway. I keep thinking, how do southerners deal with this all the time?

  9. Heat is an understatement. We're used to heat here in the Midwest, but 114 degrees for a WHOLE week?

Guess what broke in our house and can't be fixed until Tuesday?

Three guesses and the first two don't count. Yep. AC.

Oh, funny how the things to offer up are often forced upon you! :)

  10. Thanks for the sympathy! I was outside at a girl scout daycamp last week. We kept the girls hydrated and made them walk, no running, to activities. It's amazing but when you have to be out in weather like that instead of in & out of A/C, you do really get used to it more quickly. But you can have all the heat back now :)
